 Brigadier General William Hugh Eric Murray CB DL JP Ross-shire, General Staff, dies on service at home at age 56.  He is a veteran of the Zhob Valley Expedition in 1884 and the South African War.

  • Private Thomas W Ballard (Cheshire Regiment) is killed at age 41. His brother will be killed in May.
