Heavy dust storms interfere with the pursuit of the Turkish forces retreating from the Suez Canal.

Today’s losses include:

  • The grandson of a Member of Parliament
  • Multiple families that will lose another son in the war

 Today’s highlighted casualty is

 Captain Geoffrey Michael John Sichel (Middlesex Regiment) is killed at age 25. His brother will die of wounds in the closing weeks of the war and they are grandsons of John Holms MP for Hackney.

  •  Lance Corporal Robert Edward Speakman (Army Service Corps) dies of pneumonia at age 25 at home. His brother will be killed in September 1918.
  • Gunner Harry Alcock (Royal Field Artillery) dies at home at age 20.  His brother will be killed in April 1917.
