 Today’s highlighted casualties include:

  •  Second Lieutenant Herbert Walker Summerson (North Lancashire Regiment) dies of wounds received in action at age 28.
  • Private William Coxon (North Stafforshire Regiment) is killed in action at age 31. His brother was killed in September 1915.
  • Fireman John Woof (armed boarding Steamer HMS Snaefell) is killed at age 26 when his ship is sunk by a submarine. His brother will be killed in September of this year.
